Kayaking Around Ireland

John Bolton and Diane Cooper kayaked around Ireland in June 2014 a distance of 1000 miles in a double sea kayak. The journey took 41 days and demanded a high level of both physical and mental fitness, as we kayaked 50k to 70k per day taking on average of 12 - 14 hours and on some occasions up to 17 hours. We carried enough food and camping equipment for up to four days after which our supplys were restocked by our support team.

Our day generally started at 5am to be on the water for 6.30am and with only a few short stops our nutrition and hydration was crucial to the success of this adventure. Faced with huge crossings of up to 50k, force 5 winds and 2m waves our bodies and minds were tested to their limits.  This journey has only been successfully completed by less than 50 kayakers so it's a previlage to add our names to this distinguished list.
