John has over twenty years experience in the fitness industry and for the past seventeen years he has managed fitness clubs in the UK and Ireland. He qualified as a fitness instructor in 1991 (NCEF) completing his (NCEF) Level 2 Advanced Resistance Training in 1993. He also completed a three year Diploma in Leisure Management in 1996 and in 2006 he qualified as an (NCEF) Tutor. He also holds S.M.B.L.A, (British Cycling Registered) Level 3 Kayak Instructor (Irish Canoe Union Registered), Mountain Leader (Mountaineering Ireland Registered), Remote Emergency Care Level 3, Occupational First Aid, I.A.W.L.A, the only qualified Master TRX Trainer in Ireland.

In 2012 he travelled to Nepal and completed a 21 day trek to Everest Base Camp an altitude of 5,360 metres. In June 2014 John and Diane kayaked around Ireland a distance of 1600K in 41 days. In June 2015 he cycled non stop from Mizen Head to Malin Head a distance of 610k in 27 hours. In July 2015  he cycled 2100k around Ireland in 7 days.

 

He is a former Laois intercounty footballer and captained Portarlington to their last senior title in 2002.

John Bolton

Diane is a Sports Scientist who graduated from Dublin City University in 2006 with a first class honours degree. She has recently completing her PhD in exercise physiology and metabolism which focuses particularly on developing the optimal lifestyle intervention for weight loss. In September 2011, Diane was appointed coordinator of the BSc in Sports Science in Athlone Institute of Technology where she also lectures in exercise physiology.
Diane’s role in True Fitness involves working with a number of different populations in the community. This work includes scientific fitness testing of various athletes and sports teams, as well as devising training programmes, and sports nutrition plans to enhance performance. She also specializes in designing and implementing successful weight loss and health living programmes for individuals and groups.

In her leisure time she competes in adventure racing, a multidiscipline event that includes kayaking, mountain biking and mountain running. In June 2014 Diane and John circumnavigated Ireland in a double sea kayak a distance of 1,000 miles in 41 days and in July 2015  she cycled 2100k around Ireland in 7 days.
